Black Lives Matter - 14 Rad Organizations
Hi Friends,
I stand with my friends and family working for police reform, justice and a better world. Here is a list of 14 Rad Organizations specific to Black Lives Matter movement support via donating funds, regardless of skin tone and background. It is compiled from friends and family, internet research, and repeats from my 2018 list of 57 Rad Nonprofits. I will exhaust my privileges working for a better, more inclusive world. Thank you! 1. Black Lives Matter
Formed in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer, BLM is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power
to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.
2. Chicago Community Bond Fund

CCBF pays bond for people charged with crimes in Cook County, Illinois. Through a revolving fund, CCBF supports individuals whose communities cannot afford to pay the bonds themselves and who have been impacted by structural violence.
3. Youth Empowerment Performance Project

The mission of YEPP is to create a safe environment for Black LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness to explore their history, investigate new ways to address their struggles and to celebrate their strengths through the process of developing a theatrical performance piece.
4. Advancement Project

AP works locally to help communities identify and dismantle discriminatory legislation to promote racial justice and just democracy for all.

5. Urban Peace Institute

UPI, formed by civil rights leader Connie Rice, was originally a side program of the renowned Advancement Project, and is now an independent, recognized leader in the field of community safety, just policing, and systems reform to end violence and mass incarceration. UPI’s expertise in violence reduction has been sought to transform cities throughout California, and across the country.
6. Trayvon Martin Foundation
Established by Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin in March 2012, this not-for-profit’s purpose is to create awareness of how violent crime impacts the families of the victims and to provide support and advocacy for those families in response to the murder of Trayvon Martin. The scope of the Foundation’s mission is to advocate that crime victims and their families are not ignored in the discussions about violent crime to increase public awareness of all forms of racial, ethnic and gender profiling, educate youth on conflict resolution techniques and to reduce the incidences where confrontations between strangers turn deadly.
7. Campaign Zero
A data-informed platform that presents solutions to end police violence in America.
8. Association of Black Women Attorneys
Founded in 1976 by Howard University School of Law Graduates, ABWA is a not-for-profit bar association that promotes and supports the professional development and personal growth of black women attorneys. ABWA's membership consists primarily of successful women in the NY Metro area practicing in various areas at various entities including law firms, corporations, solo practice, city, state, and federal government agencies, and the judiciary. Past presidents range from federal court judges to partners at AM Law 100 law firms.
9. The Black Women’s Health Imperative
National non-profit focused on improving the health and wellness of black women and girls, including health care access, prevention of HIV/AIDS, cervical cancer, diabetes, heart disease, breast cancer, and obesity.
10. Black Midwives Alliance
Trains and organizes midwives to serve as advocates to address disparities in maternal health care that impact black birthing people. Their central goal is to have a representative voice at the national level that clearly outlines and supports the various needs and interests of Black midwives.
11. The National Coalition of 100 Black Women
A non-profit founded in 1981 to assist black women in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment. They offer programs that help with career needs and also create networks among black women. The organization has more than 60 chapters in 28 states.
12. The Drug Policy Alliance
An organization working to end the criminalization of drugs (which disproportionately affects communities of color) and the people who use and advance sensible, health-based drug policies.
13. American Civil Liberties Union
ACLU is a foundation that preserves and promotes civil rights and liberties as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, through legal representation and education.

14. Civil Liberties Defense Center
CLDC supports movements that seek to dismantle the political and economic structures at the root of social inequality and environmental destruction. CLDC provides litigation, education, legal and strategic resources to strengthen and embolden their success.
